I haven't heard much on the magma gloves except for a few snapshots of them.

On July 20, 2007, stores began to carry/sell the Guild Wars Eye of the North Prerelease Bonus Pack. Some stores will give this to customers when they pre-order the expansion, others will sell it separately. The pack is also available through the online, in-game store and on PlayNC's website. The pack includes:
* A chance to play the game early during the Sneak Peek Weekend, August 24-26th. Everything gained and attained in this weekend will be permanent to your characters, unlike in the sneak peek weekends of Factions and Nightfall.
* DVD with 10 day/14 hour trial key for all three Guild Wars games. Note, the key for the prerelease bonus automatically includes and applies this trial key to YOUR account, even if you already have all three campaigns.
* The Pre-release pack includes a trial of 14 hours for 10 days in all campaigns. (however, any skills or heroes acquired from another campaign will be locked from use after the trial is over. animal companions and armor sets will remain usable).
* Bonus items: Glacial Blade, Darksteel Longbow and Hourglass Staff.
* Note: The Bonus Pack does not include an extra character slot and neither does GW:EN.

So.. no. No one knows what they're from yet, though there is some speculation that it has to do with reputation among the various groups in GW:EN. (I.E. Ebon Vanguard, Asura, etc)

it is not true. the magma hands is a piece of armor that supposedly can go on any person no matter what class. it is probably a reward for one of the new factions mini games or something u have to buy at an armor trader in town or (my guess) in an elite dungeon.

Images of some strange hand pieces have been spotted in screen shots and in data extracted from the downloaded content.
4 sets of these things have been seen. They look like a glove, except that it looks as if your hands themselves changed into something else, not they like something worn.
The four types seen are:
-A set that makes your hands look like they have been transformed into light (arms turn white and are surrounded by a glow)
-A set that makes your hands look like they have been transformed into rock (browninsh, looks like rock)
-A set that makes your hands look like they have been transformed into chrystal (generally grey, with chrystal spikes pointing back toward the arm)
-A set that makes your hands look like they have been transformed into lava (Black arms getting progressively "hotter" as you move toward the fingers. Red palms, the fingers glow with yellow.).
We do not know how they are procured, but indications are they are going to be "rare". Whether they have any function at all is unknown.

I think it would be neat if we got some kind of bonus for attending the sneak-peak weekend, similar to the Tengu mask with Factions. But then again, we already got the three bonus weapons for pre-ordering, so that seems unlikely.
And I believe they said things like the Magma hands and Ninja mask would be high end rewards for achieving certain things. I don't remember if it was actually said that they'd be for doing things like the Dwarf Arena, or if that was just assumed.

Factions got two weapons plus the Tengu mask.
It could be very possible, althougt I won't really like it.
I don't like it when some people can't get all the stuff just for being late or for not being able to get to the PC in a certain moment.
And I have GW:EN preorder, by the way.

I seem to recall reading somewhere (I think one of the pressbriefs mentioned on the Guru homepage) that you can unlock certain armors playing Polymock. Again, I don't remember exactly where that was from, but it might make sense for the magical race to grant you magical armors, and so that might be the source of the gloves.
Also, that might answer the "unlocking armor" component of Hall of Monuments (as armors when currently purchased don't trigger an "unlocked" message..)

It makes sense that weapons and armors are only from GW:EN areas and/or mini-games.

Sorry, can't remember where I've seen the mention that the hands will be rare. I think it was in one of the chat threads, but I can't find it anywhere now.
And no, nothing beyond the general idea of "rare", or "special" or something. It was a vague sentence.
If I happen to find it, I'll post it verbatim.

Hah, found it:

Ok, there's not much to say about this, except that the items that you're mentioning -- the ones that that are not bound to a specific profession -- are pretty special, and they will not be easily obtained. I guess because of the sheer versatility, they are items that will be especially desirable and I think you will have to work for them, rather than expect them to simply drop off a monster. Does that mean crafting? Special rare item collecting? Finding a certain NPC and dancing with him by the light of the silv'ry moon? I'm not sure yet, but I'll let you know if I find out more. --Gaile 05:01, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

Anyone able to post a screenshot of the Ninja mask, and the magma hands (not seen the mask though I don't think)
But yeah, I hope these things don't turn into sellable items going for 100K + XXXXXXX ecto's or "Doing Magma Hands run, 20k invite self"

Yeah I think they are tied to the 4 elements, most likely a pve-only item (unless the pvp character options are expanded), or an item like the Aegis of Terror which is really only useful in certain situations.
personally my opinion is that it is more along the lines of:
light - lightning, air
rock - earth
magma - fire -.-
ice hands - water
probably adding elemental damage for pve-only instances? I dunno Im just guessing too.

4 new sets, 4 new race Title Tracks... coincidence?
IMO, the new sets will be rewards for (maxing?) out the new Title Tracks.
Asura, Norn, Deldrimor, and Ebon Guard.
If I had to speculate: Asura = Magma, Norn = water, Deldrimor = earth and Ebon Guard is air; but that is pure speculation.

They could be something like the Kurzick and Luxon armor, where you need special materials unique to faction of that group....
